Terms of Service

Effective September 27, 2026. Contact support@iodine.studio.

1. Using Outset Travel

Outset Travel helps you organize trips, bookings, activities, places, checklists, packing and budgets. You can collaborate privately and choose to share a public itinerary that others can use as a starting point for their own plans.

These Terms govern your use of Outset Travel. By agreeing to these Terms when creating an account, you agree to follow them. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the account-based service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or submit information to Outset Travel. Do not create an account in someone else's name or claim to represent a creator without their authorization.

2. Accounts and recovery

Provide accurate account information, keep your password and recovery codes secure, and take responsibility for activity you authorize through your account. Tell us if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission. Never send passwords or recovery codes to support.

Your email address is optional. Email verification and email-based account recovery are not available in this version. Save your recovery codes: they are the supported password-recovery method. We cannot promise to restore access if you lose both your password and recovery material, and an email alone does not prove account ownership.

You may authorize compatible integrations to access or change your trip information. Review the access you give and protect the integration credentials. The external provider's own terms and privacy practices apply to information you choose to provide to it.

3. Your content and permissions

You retain whatever ownership rights you have in information you submit. Submit only information you are entitled to use and share. Obtain permission before including another person's private information, and avoid unnecessary sensitive details.

You give the operator a non-exclusive permission to host, store, process, reproduce and display your submitted information as needed to provide, secure and maintain the features you choose. This includes displaying private trip information to collaborators you authorize and preparing an export you request. This permission does not make your private trips public.

When you enable public sharing, you also authorize us to display the selected public itinerary information and allow other users to make independent private planning copies through Outset Travel. That permission is limited to providing these features; it does not transfer ownership of your content or authorize unrelated advertising use of your private trip information.

4. Private collaboration and public itineraries

Trip information is private by default, subject to access needed to operate the service. When you grant view or edit access, collaborators can use the information according to the permissions you select. Anyone you share information with may remember, export or otherwise retain what they have already seen.

Public sharing is an explicit choice. Review the public preview before enabling a link. The public itinerary is live: later changes to included fields and eligible activities can appear automatically. Public titles, destinations, travel dates and activity information can reveal details about your plans even when private notes and booking details are excluded.

You can disable public sharing. This ends future access through that publication; it does not erase independent trips already copied by other users, screenshots, downloaded information or copies held by third parties. Restoring a deleted or archived source does not automatically restore its old public link.

When public discovery becomes available, if you separately choose to list an itinerary, it can appear in search, destination listings and search-engine results. Enabling a shareable link does not enroll it in discovery. Public-display-name attribution is also planned as a separate choice for each itinerary; current public links exclude account identity. Attribution does not disclose your login username or email.

5. Travel information and third-party services

Outset Travel is a planning tool, not a travel agency, booking service or emergency service. Saving a booking record does not make or confirm a reservation, buy a ticket, or contact the provider.

Public itineraries and other travel suggestions are starting points for your own research. Verify opening hours, prices, availability, transport, accessibility, entry requirements and relevant conditions with the appropriate providers or authorities before relying on them. Plans may become outdated, and no itinerary guarantees a particular experience or safe outcome.

Some features include Google Maps features and content. Their use is subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. Other external sites and services have their own terms. We do not control their availability, accuracy or conduct.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use Outset Travel to:

  • Access another person's account or private trip without authorization, evade access controls, or misuse recovery or invitation mechanisms.
  • Publish content that infringes others' rights, exposes private information without permission, impersonates someone, or falsely implies their endorsement.
  • Harass, threaten, defraud or distribute unlawful material.
  • Introduce malicious code, disrupt the service, extract private data, or bypass rate limits and security controls.
  • Manipulate public rankings or feedback, or submit misleading or repetitive content intended to overwhelm discovery or moderation features when those features are available.

7. Reports, removal and account restrictions

Contact us at the address above to report harmful content, unauthorized sharing, account concerns or a rights complaint. Include the relevant public link and enough detail to understand the issue; do not send account secrets or unnecessary private trip details.

We may restrict access, remove public content or suspend an account when reasonably needed to address violations of these Terms, protect people or the service, investigate abuse, or comply with applicable requirements. We may act urgently where necessary. Where appropriate and practicable, we will explain the action and offer a way to request review through support. Repeated serious violations may lead to termination.

If you believe a decision was mistaken, contact support with the relevant account or content reference and explanation. We do not promise continuous monitoring or a particular response time.

8. Export, deletion and ending use

You can export your account data and request account deletion through account settings. A deletion request immediately deactivates access and makes your account eligible for permanent deletion after 30 days. Permanent deletion requires a manually reviewed purge. Eligibility does not mean erasure happens exactly on day 30. The Privacy Policy explains current retention and the approved retention plan.

Do not assume that contacting support cancels or extends deletion. A self-service cancellation feature is not currently available. Independent copies already owned by other users remain separate, as described above.

The permission to operate your content ends as applicable content is removed from our active service, except as necessary for permitted backup retention, required records, resolving disputes and existing copies you authorized other users to create.

9. Availability and responsibility

We work to keep the service useful and reliable, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free information, or that every feature meets every user's needs. Keep appropriate copies of important travel and recovery information.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided as available without additional warranties beyond those expressly stated here. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or responsibilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms as the service changes. We will publish the effective date and provide a conspicuous notice of material changes through the service before they take effect, except where an urgent change is needed to address security or legal requirements. Where agreement is required, we will request it rather than assume a notice alone is sufficient.
